Google promote's Orkut by creating a special features page for Sign-up

Google recently has come up with a special features page which displays a web comic characters talking about some of the features, highlights of the social network in Orkut. Google is trying to promote the existence of Orkut and attracting the intentional users.

Orkut New Year Theme For Non-Brazilian User

Two of my previous posts Orkut Launched Happy New Year Theme &Orkut New Year Theme For Non-India Users I promise to give non-Brazilian users to have the look and feel of the Brazilian orkut new year's theme. So here it is guys...

#Installation Instructions:-

This script is not compatible with Internet Explorer since it uses Greasemonkey, a Firefox Add-on. If you want to enjoy this and countless other hacks and scripts then Switch to Firefox

See the following steps:-

1) Download Firefox if you don’t have it.

2) From your firefox page itself Install Greasemonkey. After you install Greasemonkey successfully then you will see its icon on bottom right-hand side of your firefox page. Click Here to Install Greasemonkey

3) Now Install the Script the theme.

4) Now open your orkut account and enjoy the Brazilian orkut new year's theme.

Note: To change the theme after installing this theme you have to disable the theme from greasemonkey, as this script will change the exciting theme and take the Brazilian new year's theme as default them.

Orkut New Year Theme For Non-India Users

In my previous article Orkut Launched Happy New Year Theme I mentioned that the theme which was launched for India is not accessible by non-Indian users. As promised, I came up with the script which would help all non-Indian users to get the look and feel of India orkut new year's theme.

Orkut Launched Happy New Year Theme

Few hours before I had given you the glimpse of up coming new year theme header image which is not anymore up coming. Orkut has launched Happy New Year Theme.

You can see Happy New Year link on your orkut home page as shown in snap-shot below.

In my previous post Get a Glimpse of Orkut New Years Theme Header Image I had mention that, I wanted the Coming soon! tag to be changed to Select Theme tag for happy new year theme which has came true in couple of hours.

This snap-shot shows you the look and feel of Happy New Year theme.

Note: This theme is only for Indian users only, but I would be coming up with a script which will allow non-Indian users to have this theme and visa-versa.

Now you can have a glimpse of up coming Orkut New Years Theme headers image would look like. If you have gone to themes section in orkut which would in following path.

Home > My profile > Edit profile > Themes tab

And scroll down to see the Happy New Year! theme is still to come till now.

But as shown below are the snap-shots for India and Brazil header image for new years theme.

After seening these header image I am eagerly waiting to apply new years theme. And want the Coming soon! tag change to Select Theme tag.

Few Top New Orkut Features in 2008

These are few top new features that improved orkut to be one of the best social network sites in 2008.

1. Gtalk in orkut was one of the biggest step taken by orkut team. Due to this new feature in orkut, it gained lot of attraction. As many people including me love Gtalk and integrating with orkut was the best thing to be in touch and chat with your Orkut friends. And gave a brand new way to use orkut.


2. Themes changed the look and feel of orkut. Applying this feature in orkut gave us all new dressed up orkut. And adding seasonal and holidays themes at the right time made us wait for holidays to see what would orkut look this years in Diwali, Christmas and coming up New Year.


3. Orkut on mobile was needed by all of us, don't you agree with me? This was one new feature which taught us to use orkut on our go. And after some time orkut came up with Orkut for S60 with this version you could upload photos, picture galleries, click to call and quick friend search which made the orkut on mobile users excited and made it easy too.


4. Friends are the key ingredient for orkut. So orkut aloud your friends from AOL, hotmail and yahoo to join you at orkut. That’s not all they gave us a friends search bar to find your friends in no time. A status bar was also given for letting your friends know your current status. Wish Happy Birthday to your friends by one click.


5. When friends comes to our mind then the old snaps and the new one also comes in to picture so orkut gave a new look in album too with faster and more photos could be uploaded. That's not it orkut also gave us an option to protect our pictures from strangers with Individually lock alums. And we could leave a comment and tag on our friends photos.


6. Orkut team never lets its users get bored. They came up with all new applications which would keep you busy and let you have fun on orkut. And added new events also so that you can manage most of your things by orkut.


7. If you dint had a high speed internet then orkut had come up with a faster and lighter version of orkut.


8. And to notify orkut users was also done with style with new look for orkut email.

And there where many more updates which also helped orkut to grown more and more in its domain. I have few things for orkut team members that "we love all the new features added to orkut and will be looking forward for more updates from orkut".

New Update ! Friend suggestions by orkut

Just now I logged in orkut account and saw a new update. "Friend suggestions by orkut", now this is a unique feature. As orkut is suggesting to add friends which will be having few lists of people who might be friends of your friends, who are already in your friends list.

Orkut is doing its job pretty well, by making us aware that there are more people with whom you can interact and expand your friends circle.

This feature would be coming in your profile soon, as orkut is trying to get this feature updated in all profile.

New Search Friends Bar In Orkut

I was just looking for any new features updated by Orkut. This is a small but good feature which just caught my eyes. Search friends bar under my friends. I really don’t know when this feature was updated.

We were having more or else this same feature in search bar beside "Logout". But this bar was having an option to search in your friends list as well as in all orkut. You can see the difference in below snap-shot.

Bug in Orkut Co-owner Community

All the Co-owner of Orkut community please check if you are able to work on your co-owner system. As Orkut Help team is investigating about it and they think there is a bug in it.

Grab Your Own Gmail Stickers from Googel

Yes now you can also get your own Gmail stickers. How you can get them? Ask Google to send for it. Now you can only get by sending an ENVELOPE not e-mail. Yah you can go ahead and read it again its “envelope”.

Google Talks Gets Integrated with Orkut

Now you all can chat with your Orkut friends and other Gtalk or Gmail friends from Orkut. This feature was awaited by all of us. Its a cool and one of the best feature added to orkut till now.

So what all can you do with Google Talk in Orkut?

1. Chat with your Orkut friends, without leave orkut page. Just as any other Instant Messenger.
2. Chat with your Gmail and Google Talk friends too from Orkut.
3. Choose your orkut friends who can chat with you.
4. Browse through Orkut pages, while keeping the Chatbox open.

You can control or choose which of your friends group can chat with you from the settings page. This a very good option given by Google in orkut because, sometime you get sick and tired of scrap chatting, as constantly you have to reloading the page for new scraps display.

Note: Google is slowly rolling this feature out. Looks like, I am not still one of them to get this feature activated . That's the reason I am not able to add more snap-shots till now. Once when it gets Activated I will surely add more snap-shots guys.

So till now I can only give this snap-shots.
